Marion Cadol

Volunteer Highlight: Marion Cadol

To start of the New Year we have selected one of our long time Meals on Wheels delivery drivers, Marion Cadol. Marion started volunteering with Meals on Wheels over 30 years ago when her dear friend, Jean Day, was an administrator with the Senior Center of Jackson Hole. Over the years Marion has worked various part time jobs which has allowed her to continue to volunteer. Most recently she retired from the Living Center.

Marion has always enjoyed people and the time she spends with them. When asking Marion what she enjoys most about delivering meals she said that she feels this is a service that is really helpful for not only homebound seniors who are no longer able to get out to do their own shopping and cooking but for those who are recovering from surgery and illness.

Marion also volunteers with the First Baptist Church as one of the leaders of the AWANA children’s group. She also enjoys reading and hiking in her free time.

If you have an interest in being a Meals on Wheels volunteer, please contact Reanna.

Volunteer Highlight: Jackie Anderson

For the month of December we would like to highlight Jackie Anderson, one of our regular Meals on Wheels volunteers.

Jackie began volunteering at the Senior Center many years ago after seeing what a special place it was for her mom and dad, as they attended lunches, bingo, and special events. Jackie stated, that “the Senior Center is a bright and happy place with noticeably caring and loving staff and volunteers; Meals on Wheels is one of the unseen gems of our small mountain town. Delivering lunches to the homes of our community members who are in need of a little extra care is just as special for the volunteers as it is for the happy and thankful recipients. All people want to be seen and noticed and cared for, and we truly all need each other. Every interaction I’ve had over all the years has been special to me; it’s the smiles that mean the most. There is so much more to our community that is down that alley or behind the fences and around the bend many have not seen. Loving people who have the wisdom and fortitude to have lived through the Wyoming winters and seen the changes and have the stories to tell. I love these people and they have made me humble. My heart goes out to the Senior Center and I’m privileged to be a small part of the love they give.”

A huge thank you to Jackie for always being there on our last minute requests and filling in the gaps in between.

Volunteer Highlight: Tyler Valentine

We have closed out another summer with a tremendous support from all of our amazing volunteers! From breakfast and lunch desk, dining room and kitchen help, tech tutors, MOW drivers, facility support and everything inbetween! We are truly grateful for all the help you provide us at the Senior Center in supporting the Seniors of our community!

This month we would like to highlight Tyler Valentine. Tyler is one of our Meals on Wheels delivery drivers and delivers the Pioneer route every Thursday. He has chosen this route because he can ft it into his busy work schedule as a Senior Planner with the Town of Jackson.

Tyler’s drive to volunteer comes from “his belief in Christ”. He believes in giving to those less fortunate; the homeless, elder, poor and sick. The best part about delivering Meals on Wheels is that he has developed personal relationships. It has also provided him the opportunity to help some seniors more with odds and ends around the house. He also has shared special moments just spending time with his friends he has made over the 5 years he has been volunteering. Thank you for your continued dedication and support as a volunteer to our Meals on Wheels Program.
