9:30 - Creative Writing Class
August 5, 2020 @ 9:30 - 11:00
Join the Senior Center of Jackson Hole and the National Museum of Wildlife Art for a creative writing class! Sessions will focus on developing a sense of “wildness” in one’s writing by emphasizing nature-oriented themes. The class will provide a brief survey of fiction, poetry, and nonfiction, to help participants explore new ways of telling stories. A portion of each class will be dedicated to discussing the tradition of “nature” writing from Indigenous oral traditions to Thoreau to more contemporary writers. Creative prompts will invite participants to engage in short, free-write sessions. All levels are welcome!
Participants should bring a notebook, a pen or pencil, and reading glasses if needed. Participants are also welcome to bring watercolors or other art making supplies if they would like.
Participants will practice social distancing at all times during the class and masks will be required. The museum will provide Participants with a light canvas folding chair and umbrellas for shade.
Classes will take place each Wednesday in August from 9:30 am – 11:00 am outdoors at the National Museum of Wildlife Art (under the awning at the main entrance). Suggested contribution is $30. Please register and pay through the Senior Center prior to attending the class. Space is limited.
