Chair massage is a seated massage focusing on the back, shoulders, neck, and arms. Clients sit in a special chair, remaining fully clothed. No oil is used. Gentle massage techniques help to mobilize sore muscles, tendons, and joints. One of the main benefits of massage therapy is improved circulation. Other benefits include reduced pain and stiffness, improved emotional wellbeing, reduction of anxiety, depression, stress and loneliness, and an improvement in self-confidence and quality of life. 15-minute Chair Massage sessions are reserved by appointment.
Education & Training
Learn more about health and wellness topics that are important to you. A free lending library of books, DVD’s and tapes is always available to members. Regularly scheduled information sessions give you the opportunity to be more informed or to gain new knowledge, experience, or skills. Topics include nutrition counseling, Medicare assistance, safe drivers courses, and preventative health programs.
Reduce your risk of getting the flu this winter season with a flu shot by Public Health nurses. Flu shots are typically offered during the month of October. Pneumonia vaccines are also available. Appointments are first come, first served – no pre-registration required. Please remember to bring your insurance or Medicare cards.
Taking good care of your feet is easy with regularly scheduled Foot Clinics at the Senior Center. Join the St. John’s Home Health Nurses for a foot soak and nail trim. Appointments are first come, first served — no pre-registration required. Suggested contribution: $10
Health Care Equipment Loan Closet
Are you in need of health care equipment? The Senior Center loans various adaptive equipment for short term use. Please contact Hannah to borrow canes, walkers, bed side commodes, wheelchairs, etc.

Massage Therapy has been proven to promote health and wellness by reducing stress, pain, and muscle tension. Massage Therapy is available one day per month at the Senior Center. Please contact the Senior Center staff to arrange an appointment.
Mindfulness Meditation Group
Research indicates that mindfulness meditation has the potential to make positive differences in the lives of seniors with benefits such as increased longevity, a decrease in feelings of loneliness, and improved mood. Mindfulness meditation is a “be here now” approach that can be practiced by people of all ages and belief systems. People who practice mindfulness meditation report that they feel happier, less anxious and more spontaneous. Join our weekly 45-minute mindfulness meditation group to learn more.
