We are so excited to offer this special workshop once per month! A Stability Yoga Workshop will complement the variety of classes already on the activity calendar at the Senior Center.
Stability Yoga Therapy was created by Rebecca Matthews and helps create understanding, awareness and improvement of the recruitment function of muscles with a stability role in the body. The postures utilize low threshold motor control retraining strategies to improve body movement and control, and facilitate stronger mind to muscle connection with breath awareness. Utilizing therapeutic movements, breathing techniques, visualizations, guided relaxations and meditations, (SYT) provides each client with a well-rounded experience and understanding of their needs for wholeness and health in a safe, caring and nurturing environment.
Through Stability Yoga Therapy, you will focus on a base group of postures that safely increase stability, coordination and movement control in the body:
- Become aware of muscle imbalances, limitations & habitual movement patterns
- Practice better body mechanics by strengthening mind/muscle connections
- Integrate safe and efficient body movement patterns
- Strengthen the roots of your core musculoskeletal system
